After the "short" hard training for the Penang Brigde Run I didnt get a fucking medal. My leg were killing me at the starting of the race.I did eat a packet of power gel for free it's not a tasty thing I would say.I was confidient to get that medal because I reach the other side of the bridge at 6:30am but somehow getting back to the Island took me longer that getting to the mainland because I was walking all the way.I reached the finished line at 8:50am...hmm. better luck next time.
Tamaki: bass
Yasunori Takada: drums
Biography:
This instrumental band was formed in February of 2000 in Tokyo, Japan. Since then, MONO has quickly piqued interests in both audience and critics alike by staging overwhelming, emotionally splendid, atmospheric performances. In September of 2000, Mono released a 4-song EP called Hey, You. EP, released on Forty-4 Records. In December of 2001, the band had their long-awaited worldwide album debut Under the Pipal Tree released under John Zorn’s TZADIK label.
In March of 2002, MONO embarked on their fourth tour of the US and shared the stage with Jim O’Rourke at Tonic in NYC. They also found time to record their second full-length album entitled One Step More and You Die which was released October 2, 2002 in Japan and worldwide in ealry 2003, followed by a 30-city tour throughout Japan and the US in October and November. Kinski and Black Dice are among the bands who shared the bill with them in the US.In the fall of 2003, MONO signed a deal with one of their all-time favorite labels, TEMPORARY RESIDENCE LTD. Since 2003 MONO have released two full-length albums, Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined (2004) and You Are There (2006), as well as Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain, a collaboration with fellow Tokyo artist world’s end girlfriend.
In the fall of 2007, MONO toured with High On Fire in the North America and MONO’s intense sound captured many new fans from Heavy Metal world. The compilation album of previously unreleased tracks gone ~ A collections of Eps 2000-2007 was released worldwide on Temporary Residence as well. In January 2008, MONO released their first DVD The Sky Remains The Same As Ever including their documentary of tours in many different parts of the world in 2006 and 2007. Within the rage of distortion and bombardment of feedback, you are just as likely to experience sadness and beauty, light and darkness, chaos and peace, happiness and melancholy. It is MONO’s ability to combine, intertwine and swing back and forth from two such opposite extremes to create an emotional phantasmagoria that makes this band worth experiencing.
